Duncan Regehr's paintings are extended metaphor. Going beyond what is obvious to the eye, Regehr reveals the exterior by painting the interior. The underlying meanings may have ethical, social, religious, or political significance, and his characters themselves are often archetypes of abstract concepts such as hope, innocence, desire, fear, greed and obsession.
